Backyard VBS 2021 | Frequently Asked Questions

What is Backyard VBS?
Backyard VBSs are a unique and effective way to reach the children and families in your community. It lasts for one week of the summer, 1.5 hours each day (Monday-Friday) At Backyard VBS, children ages 5-12 will gather to play high-energy games, hear exciting Bible stories and more! There’s action, fun and relationships with people who care and want them to know the One who loves them the most – Jesus! Each summer thousands of children around the world come to know Christ through Vacation Bible Schools!
I want my child to participate in a Backyard VBS this year!  What do I do?
ALL Children ages 5-12 (ages 3 and 4 are welcome to attend too-with a caregiver) are invited to one of the many Backyard VBS hosted by families throughout the area.  Locations and times will be provided soon – be watching for those and for how to sign up your kiddos!
Why Backyard VBS?

Backyard VBS provides fun, safe activities kids love! It takes Vacation Bible School to your home to reach children and families, while effectively telling the children in your neighborhood about Jesus. Help your church build relationships in your community and welcome new people into your church!
Who teaches Backyard VBS?
This is a dynamic team of our high school and college students who love children!
Teachers and helpers are screened and trained by pastors, staff, and volunteer mentors at Park Hills Church and learn how to lead VBSs and teach Bible lessons, songs, and memory verses. Best of all, they learn how to share with children so they can trust Christ as Savior. The teachers bring the materials that capture children’s attention, teach them biblical truths and help them understand and respond to the Gospel.
Host families provide a space and get to interact with the kids and their families!
What is the follow-up plan for Backyard VBS?
That is where you and your family come in! You will continue to grow the relationships and connections made during Backyard VBS week.  This may be as simple as inviting families to church with you, but is not limited to that!  Meals, conversations, social gatherings, in an effort to spiritually nourish and minister to families.
What can I do right now?
Start praying now for your Backyard VBSs, the children and families who will be reached and for your church to be able to build strong and lasting relationships with them!
