A Letter from Pastor Mark

Dear Park Hills Family –

Wow, one week ago we never would have thought this is where we would be! After meeting as a staff, guided by the CDC and Stephenson / Winnebago County guidelines we have decided to suspend all ministry functions including our Sunday/Monday/Wednesday services at our Freeport and Winnebago campuses.   We are taking this action because we believe this a tangible way to show how we can love our community well by helping to slow the spread of the disease.  We will be streaming our Sunday services and creating some additional content (through podcasts, Facebook Live events, unique devotional streaming options, etc.) that will be available during the entire week.

We believe in times like this, when there is so much uncertainty and confusion, the church has an unbelievable opportunity to BE the church. We are ONE church between two campuses. We operate BEYOND Sunday mornings and especially considering how our Acts series concluded, we believe we are uniquely equipped to minister in our homes and communities. You have been invested in. Now it is time to test our resolve and our faith to see how God can use us. Use this time to invest in your family. Use this time to share your faith with your neighbors and friends. We will continue to be available to you, but due to the guidelines at county, state and federal levels, we want to be an example for others in this way. Park Hills does more than meet on Sundays! We are blessed to have made technological advances in the past year that give us the ability to still shepherd you in the days ahead.

To be clear, no groups or ministries that meet at our Freeport or Winnebago campuses will continue to meet. This includes Awana, Frontline, Core, small group meetings, bible studies, Lenten services, etc. Our youth group trip to Myrtle Beach is also cancelled and we are hoping to reschedule.  Please adhere to this and allow this time to be a special opportunity to be the church daily.

While our full-time employees will still be working full-time and will be available by phone, we are adjusting our office hours to be open from 9am-12pm M-F for walk-ins and ministry purposes to mitigate human contact.

We are taking the necessary steps to be fiscally responsible during this difficult time but would appreciate continued giving if able. You can give by using our online system or by mailing/dropping off your offering to the church office during the hours noted above.

Please continue to faithfully pray in the days ahead that God’s will would be done! Please understand we are saddened to not be meeting – as we are hoping you are as well! Yet we feel this is in the best interest of our congregation and to love our community well. Perhaps God will use us to do something amazing in the days ahead!

Psalm 46:10-11 “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the Earth!”  The Lord of hosts is with us; the god of Jacob is our fortress.
